EXECUTIVE BOARD

Stephan Wrage  is the founder of SkySails GmbH and chairman of the executive board (CEO). He is in charge of sales, public relations, investor relations and business development. Stephan Wrage was born in Hamburg in 1972 and studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and the Technical University of Dresden, focusing on mechanical engineering, logistics, innovation management and controlling. He completed his Diploma degree (Dipl. Wirtsch.-Ing.) in Industrial Engineering with honours. Before starting to work full time on developing and patenting the towing kite propulsion system in the year 2000, Stephan Wrage worked as a consultant in the IT sector focusing on plant design and as management trainer for TOP Business AG (former Philips Academy). For developing the SkySails system Stephan Wrage has been honored as “Outstanding Young Person” in 2004 and selected “Ökomanager des Jahres” (Eco Manager of the Year) in 2008. In his free time he is an enthusiastic sailor and kite flyer.

Martin Lohss in his capacity as managing director, is responsible for the areas human resources, purchasing,  project management, organizational development, information technology and administration. He was born in Hamburg in 1966 and studied at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW), the University of Cambridge, England and at the Technical University of Vienna at the mechanical engineering program and earned a degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in biological engineering. In 2002 Martin Lohss was one of the first investors to finance the development of the SkySails technology and has provided advisory support to corporate management in developing the team since then. Before joining the executive board in 2004, he was founding partner of and worked in an engineering office for consulting, project planning and research in the field of energy, environmental and material-flow management for 10 years. Martin Lohss was founding member of the council of sustainability of Hamburg.

Stephan Brabeck, as technical director (CTO) of SkySails GmbH, has leadership oversight of research and development, manufacturing and service. He was born in Cologne in 1962 and earned an engineering degree (Dipl.-Ing.) from RWTH Aachen University where he majored in aerospace engineering. Stephan Brabeck is an internationally renowned expert for ship propulsion. Before joining SkySails’ executive board in 2005, he was employed by Schottel, a manufacturer of ship propulsion systems for 14 years as development engineer, director of R&D and acting managing director. An avid sailor, he contributes in-depth expertise, years of management experience and exceptional market knowledge to the company.

Hanns-Ulrich Hasse, in his capacity as chief financial officer (CFO) of SkySails GmbH, is in charge of finance and controlling. He was born in Hamburg in 1959 and earned a degree in business administration (Dipl.-Kfm.) in 1986 after having successfully finished his apprenticeship as a banker. Following his graduation he worked for the Hypo Vereinsbank Group for more than 20 years, thereof 2 years on the board of directors (COO) of the global business area Wealth Management and from 1998 on as CEO of the NORDINVEST KAG in Hamburg. Hanns-Ulrich Hasse has been one of SkySails’ first private investors since 2003 and joined the executive board in 2010. He is an avid team sport enthusiast and played hockey on a competitive level in the national league for 25 years. In addition, he trained teams in the national league as well as the German hockey team for over 15 years.
