The Briese Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Leer, was founded in 1984 by Captain Roelf Briese (Naval Architect). Driven by continual growth our onshore office staff now totals over 225 highly qualified employees from Germany and other countries who ensure that the tasks at hand run smoothly. Additionally, over 1,840 employees from various countries handle transportation tasks worldwide on board our vessels. Our reputation has grown through years of experience and excellent know-how in the field of fully integrated maritime operations.

The Briese Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG has supported the development of the SkySails technology with know-how and capital. Currently Briese is operating the MV "BBC SkySails" in its fleet at BBC Chartering. 

With a fleet of more than 140 multipurpose vessels and the global coverage by 25 offices - BBC Chartering is the world leading carrier of heavy lift and project cargoes. Combining the requirements of tramp and liner service BBC is guarantor for high efficient solutions. Considering the shallow draft characteristic of its vessels, and a fleet ranging from 3.500 to 37.300 dwat, with lifting capacities up to 800 mts, BBC is geared to serve almost any port and offshore operation. Furthermore BBC´s strong new builds program is a commitment to market requirements and will increase the lifting capacity up to 900 mts.
