It was in the city of Bonn that the KYOCERA Eco Award was presented for the second time during the “Tag der Wirtschaft“ on 29 April 2010, a day set aside to recognize the contributions of business. KYOCERA, together with its partners the German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (MVMW) and the German Environmental Management Association (B.A.U.M.), honored those companies that use global resources in a sustainable and responsible manner.

The primary goal of this award program is to initiate and promote projects among small
and medium-sized businesses in Germany for reducing CO2 emissions, and to more fully anchor the trend toward “greater responsibility among German businesses.”

The jury selected the SkySails system for first prize from among 60 competing companies. The system was the most compelling in terms of innovation, market potential, environmen-
tal benefits and transferability to other businesses. First prize came with a cash award of 50,000 euros.
